VB In Action: Contest Time!

Hey Lovelies!

So as most of you may or may not know, the women of VB are possessors of "the kinks". No no no...fear not, it isn't the latest STD on the block, it's a little something called natural hair. We both love the look, feel, and texture of natural hair and the versatility that comes with it. So of course we were more than excited when one of our favorite Youtubers, MsButtahfly, hosted a contest to celebrate her 3 year Nappy'versary.

MsButtahfly decided to present a contest where ladies could mimic a make up look that she has done, or showcase a hot natural summer do of their choice. I went with the latter, and not only was it my first hair care tutorial, but it was also my very first youtube contest entry. Win or lose, I'm excited to have the opportunity to be apart of something that promotes women loving who they are and embracing their beauty any way that they see fit.

The look that I went for was a simple up do with two strand twists. I love two strand twists because it's a protective hairstyle that keeps me out of my hair for weeks at a time, which decreases opportunities for me to brush, pull, and damage my hair. It's also great because it's super convenient and most mornings all I have to do is get up and go. More of the finished look can be seen in the birthday post, however, the step by step process is available in the video. Hope you enjoy...

Products Used:
IC Fantasia Gel For Color Treated Hair
Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Moisturizing Lotion
Organic Root Stimulator Shea Butter Softening Lotion
Organic Root Stimulator Nature's Shine Hair Oil

Prior to recording, I co-washed my hair with a protein enriched conditioner, as well as de-tangled it. I used a little over a quarter size amount of the olive oil moisturizer and applied it all over the dampened hair. Next, I parted the hair to begin twisting and used dime sized amounts of the gel and shea butter lotion to saturate each strand as I went along. Keeping the hair wet with progression, I continued that process until I acheived my desired look. The twists were completed by being pinned up in the back and allowing several twists to cascade towards the front of the crown. And there you have it...a simple summer do!

Stay tuned for more hair care tips and style options from the ladies of VB in the future. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to let us know. And don't forget to keep it blue!

Loved the video. Your hair looked so pretty. I've been natural for almost nine years now. I love it and have never looked back.
