Capturing The Blue: Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross is a woman of many talents, and a possessor of distinctive qualities. Many know her as the infectious character Joan Clayton from the hit CW show Girlfriends, but few also know that she is a graduate of Brown University, a former model, a former fashion editor for Mirabella and New York Magazine, a producer, and a community activist. For her beautiful qualities inside and out, we certainly couldn't avoid awarding her the "Capturing The Blue" award.

As you may have learned from one of our tagged post awhile back, Tracee Ellis Ross is definitely a woman that we both consider to be a fashion inspiration. She effortlessly manages to take fashion risks, while maintaining a regal elegance. Regardless of the funky patterns, colors, or designs she chooses, each look has a sophisticated flair and undeniable chicness. From vintage inspired funky pieces, to well tailored suits, to demure evening gowns, this woman brings it when it comes to style.

And did we mention that hair? We are fans of big hair, and if anyone does big hair well, it's Tracee. Whether she is rocking her wild curly fro, waves, spiral curls, or a sleek bun, her hair is always on point. Check out some of these fabulously blue pics of Tracee...

She is definitely a style icon for our generation. She always looks chic! She doesn't seem to follow trends - she sets them. I always love her hair too!

I love her style. SHe pulls it off so effortlessly, like its damn near organic. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few years back while in NO for the Essence Music Festival. I was in the French market and we both reached for the same earrings. I looked over thinking "oh crap, who's going to get the earrings now?" And it was her. My face gave away my amazed recognition and her eyes screamed "please don't shout me out". I told her "no worries. I'm from NYC. famous people are a dime a dozen." We chatted for a few minutes about the lovely lovelies at the French Market. Then parted ways. I didn't even tell my girls I met her until we were on our way back to the hotel. I still have the earrings though! ;)

She's definitely deserving of the award! I loooooove her and will miss "Girlfriends" but I know she's moving on to bigger and greater things- though I'm sad the show didn't get it's proper farewell...

Thanks for this! :)

i looooooooove the flower dress in the 3rd pic, anyone has a clue who the designer is?

I have noticed she wears a lot of DVF and Theory because coincidentally, i have a few of the same pieces she wore on the show. Also Madison Marcus and Ditto jeans.
